ON PROPELLER VIBRATORY FORCES OF THE CONTAINER SHIP--CORRELATION BETWEEN SHIP AND MODEL, AND THE EFFECT OF FLOW CONTROL FIN ON VIBRATORY FORCES
Pressure fluctuations on the hull above, the propeller were measured on the model and the ship, and comparisons between the results of them are discussed, especially on phases of pressure fluctuations which play an important role in calculating surface forces, from a point of view of cavitation phenomena. The unique technique to measure the variations of thrust and torque on one blade of the propeller model which is a modification of Kumai's method, is introduced. This method is very useful in calculating bearing forces. The results of model tests on bearing forces using the technique above mentioned, are presented, and then, bearing forces in a ship's wake were calculated. Calculated values of bearing forces on the ship could not be evaluated as the tests on the ship were not performed. The experiments concerning horizontal flow control fins to reduce vibratory forces, were carried out only on the model and the results are presented.
