STATE OF THE ART OF BUILDING LIQUID GAS TANKERS
STAND DER ENTWICKLUNG IM BAU VON FLUESSIGGASTANKERN
A description is given of two types of natural liquid gas tankers, one with self-supporting tanks, and the other with integrated tanks which have diaphragm-type bulkheads. While some self-supporting tanks are made of aluminum alloys, the majority is built of 9% nickel steel. The bulkheads of the integrated tanks are made of Cr-Ni or Ni 36. The properties of the principal steels used in tank building are described.
