THE CASE IN FAVOUR OF GALVANIZED STEEL AS A CLADDING MATERIAL

The majority of general purpose freight containers are built with aluminum, mild steel or GRP/plywood as the main cladding material, and sometimes with a combination of two of them. Many arguments have been put forward in support of these now widely-accepted cladding materials. To date pre-galvanized steel has not been regarded as a basic cladding material though it has been utilized as cladding for container doors. British Steel Corporation has assessed the container cladding business and come up in favour of galvanized steel.
