MARINE GAS TURBINE PLANTS
GAZOTURBINNYYE USTANOVKI MORSKIKH SUDOV
This book is intended to serve scientists, designers, and engineers engaged in gas turbine construction and maintenance. The book was written by a group of scientists and technicians in Leningrad on the basis of Soviet and foreign experience with gas turbine ships. The fundamentals of the theory of marine gas turbine engines, their parts, their operation, calculation principles, main types of design, and the arrangements of gas turbine plants on seagoing ships are discussed. Particular attention has been paid to problems pertaining to seagoing transport ships, including the interaction of the gas turbine engine and propeller during various operations, and to automation, remote control, noise reduction, and the use of heavy fuels. Turbocompressor and free-piston gas generator turbine engines, and open- and closed-cycle gas turbine engines are considered.
