Study on Distribution Features of Sea-Ice Area in Bohai Sea Based on Remote Sensing and GIS

Recently, the research of sea-ice is regarded by people gradually. The development of remote sensing (RS) and geographical information system (GIS) are rapid. And these two techniques have opened up a new phase for sea-ice study with good temporal repetition, regional scale of RS and spatial data management, auxiliary decision of GIS. In order to reflect the distribution of sea-ice, Bohai Sea is divided into Liaodong Gulf (north of 39º20′N), Bohai Gulf (117º53′E~120ºE, 37º47′N~39º20′N), Laizhou Gulf (118º17′E~120 º44′E, 36º25′N~37º47′N) and the central Bohai Sea. And sea-ice areas of these four regions are gained with remote sensing and GIS. In order to gain the rule of intra-annual and inter-annual distribution, the remote sensing images from January 7 to February 16, 2001 and in 1996~2006 are chosen. Afterward, through analyzing data of sea-ice area and air temperature, the author expounds the intra-annual and inter-annual change of sea-ice in Bohai Sea in detail. And this research provides basis for exploitation and utilization of sea-ice etc. At the same time, the development trends and directions of remote sensing and GIS are pointed out.
