The well-hidden jewel
The UK currently has 46 Community Rail Partnerships (CRPs) covering 82 lines, which support sustainable community development, community well-being, increased access to education, health and work, and local self-determination. The Association of Community Rail Partnerships (ACoRP) represents these CRPs and promotes community rail through its work with government and industry. This article discusses the findings of a report on the values of community rail partnerships and volunteering, produced by ACoRP, the Department for Transport, Network Rail, and a consortium of train operating companies.
