A Novel Goal Oriented Concept for Situation Representation for ADAS and Automated Driving
Being aware of the environment is crucial for the task of driving a vehicle. With increasing degree of automation, the complexity of the relevant environment which has to be represented internally is growing. For humans this internal representation is called situation awareness. In the intelligent transportation community it is often called situation representation although there is no broadly accepted definition of the term situation. In this work the authors discuss existing concepts and employ the concept of situation awareness to generalize and extend the existing concepts to a goal oriented concept for situation representation. The concept can be exploited for the deduction of requirements for the perception process from the (driving) goals of a system on different levels of abstraction.
