Selection procedure and analysis of transport alternatives for exporting bio-ethanol
Procedimento de escolha e análise de alternativas de transporte para exportação de bioetanol no Brasil
This paper presents a procedure to assist the performance analysis of transport alternatives with the combined use of quantitative and linguistic variables, differing from the traditional assessment that use only quantitative variables in their applications. The proposed procedure employs fuzzy logic to model the linguistic variables that represent the level of service of the alternatives and the weights of the attributes of the problem. The procedure was applied for a bioethanol transportation case for which the authors evaluated the cost categories and the level of service of the available multimodal alternatives from the perspective of field experts. They implemented a sensitivity analysis through scenarios with variations in the importance of these categories. Results show that the assessment of experts there is a tendency to assign greater importance to the level of service compared to the cost of the operation and that the current practice of transport is not the most appropriate alternative considering the views of experts.
