EPICYCLIC GEARS FOR MARINE PROPULSION
A description is given of epicyclic gears for use in marine propulsion systems. Background information is given which shows that the use of epicyclic gears can save money, space and weight in the construction of a ship and the operation of a marine propulsion system. The operation of the epicyclic gear system is explained, and the maintenance of the gears and results of measurements taken aboard a vessel using epicyclic gearing are included in the description.
