PRINCIPLES FOR THE DESIGN AND CALCULATION OF TANKERS FOR LIQUID CHEMICALS
During the past decade, the world has experienced a revolution in the production and transportation of chemicals. Whereas earlier transport in drums or barrels was sufficient to meet the demand, today specially built or converted tankers are required. This article discusses the development of rules for these tankers by Det Norske Veritas. The discussion involves properties of chemicals, ship types and their requirements, survival assumptions, and classification of chemicals, among others which are similarly explained.
