DEMONSTRATION OF FIXED AND MOVING INCLINED PLANE OIL SKIMMERS FOR COLLECTING OIL UNDER THE WATER SURFACE
Two novel and effective devices for picking up oil in the presence of waves have been developed and demonstrated. The first concept, developed under Environmental Protection Agency sponsorship, involves a fixed inclined plane, and the second concept, developed privately by JBF Scientific, employs a moving inclined plane, to harvest oil beneath the surface of the water. The basic principles of the concepts are described and presented.
