Auburn stabling project design and innovation in a design and construct project
Sydney Trains is expanding its services to meet the forecast growth in passenger demand. The additional services require expansion in both rolling stock and stabling. In order to accommodate this demand, Sydney Trains is sourcing additional trainsets, which will be stabled at several sites, including Auburn. The fundamental purpose of the Auburn Stabling Project (ASP) is to provide storage for trainsets that provide services to Sector 2. The ASP will also provide facilities that allow trains to be cleared of rubbish, receive minor repairs and protection from vandalism. This paper provides a summary of the design and construction of the Auburn Stabling Project, specifically from the design perspective and how design and innovation can provide value for money and influence construction.
