SEAMAN TRAINING FOR THE NUCLEAR SHIP MUTSU
Japan Nuclear Ship Development Agency intended to man the first nuclear ship Mutsu with well experienced merchant marine officers and engineers, considering her peaceful use and especially to ensure safety operation of the ship and nuclear power plant at sea and in port. These seamen candidates were selected from the governmental institutions and the six major shipping companies in Japan. Fundamental training, field training with manufactures, simulator training and executive training courses were instituted.
