UNDERWATER INSPECTION OF OFFSHORE STRUCTURES: METHODS AND RESULTS
About 1968, it became apparent that the tremendous investment in offshore platforms, particularly in the Gulf of Mexico, warranted to periodic inspection and preventative maintenance program. The inspection techniques described in this paper, and the results shown, were developed and applied for inspection of these platforms. Many of the techniques are applicable to other marine structures, such as pipelines, SBM installations, loading booms, piers etc.
