NUREMBERG SUBWAY
LA METRO POLITANA DI NORIMBERGA
Nuremberg, a German city withless than 500,000 inhabitants, inaugurated on the 1st of March 1972, the first section of its metropolitan railway. This city which has a modern efficient surface network, served mainly by trams, decided, after thorough studies undertaken towards the end of the fifties, to separate, on the main traffic routes, public transport from private transport with the construction of a basic metropolitan railway network, made up of three lines. These will have a length of about 42 kms and will be interconnected with the surface network and with that of the Federal Railways by means of suitable interchange stations. Details of the construction project are presented.
