This textbook on water transportation deals with problems and organization of river fleet and harbor operations, setting of technical standards for optimal exploitation of vessels and harbor facilities, planning and scheduling fleet movements and handling ships in harbors, planning road-stead operation and ship maintenance, loading and unloading passenger travel and servicing, and includes a special chapter on mathematical planning of fleet and harbor operations. The book was approved by the Council of Educational Methodology at the Directorate of Personnel and Schools at the Ministry of the River Fleet as a textbook for water-transport engineering institutes of higher education. It may also be useful for economists and personnel of operational branches of water transportation.
