Transportation Fellowship Helps Young Researcher Examine Maintenance Policies for Tribal Roads
Sherwin Racehorse, a member of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes of the Fort Hall Indian Reservation in Idaho, received a Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship in 2011 and 2012 from the Federal Highway Administration’s Universities and Grants Program to research and evaluate the problems of the Indian Reservation Roads maintenance program. This article describes Racehorse’s research. His findings presented strategic options and a preferred alternative for federal and tribal decisions about the allocation of funds for road maintenance projects.
