STRENGTH OF ICEBREAKERS
PROCHNOST SUDOV PLAVAYUSHCHIKH VO LDAKH
The book discusses theoretical and practical problems of strength pertaining to the design of icebreaker hulls. A method of determining the ice-loads upon the ship hull as a function of navigational conditions, ice strength, hull contour, ship displacement, and speed is proposed. Methods of calculating internal stresses of the individual elements of the ship structure are also presented, and principles for optimum design of these structures are derived. The book is intended for design engineers and scientific personnel involved in the study of problems of stresses and design of ships.
