LUBRICATING OIL FILTERS FOR STEAM TURBINE MACHINERY

Lubricating oil systems for marine steam turbines are reviewed with descriptions of typical layouts, types of circulating systems, and sources of oil contamination. Major features of the Air-Maze stainless steel woven cloth filters are given, including the disk and pleated cartridge types. The relationship between size of filter openings and pressure drop across the filter is explained as it affects efficiency of filtration.
