STRENGTH PROBLEMS OF CONTAINERS AND CONTAINERSHIPS

The work of Det Norske Veritas in testing and classification of containers is summarized, with specifics on type approval testing and certificates, and the development on unified classification rules. The activities of the research department of Det Norske Veritas with regard to the design and arrangement of containerships are reviewed.
