ITS Strategy of Turkey
The task of preparing a “National Intelligent Transport Systems Strategy (NITSS)” has been given to Turkish Ministry of Transport with the Midterm Government Program (2012-2014). A workshop was held on 25 May 2012 with the participation of approximately 500 professionals from the public authorities, municipalities, NGO’s, universities and private sector. A draft NITSS document has been prepared by the working group with the contribution of the workshop outputs. They finalized the Strategy Document in January, all stakeholders were asked for their action suggestions for the 2013-2015 Action Plan. The Strategy Document and the Action Plan were finalized in April 2013 and sent to the Higher Planning Council for approval. In this strategic plan, the advantages and disadvantages of different ITS systems and their business and technical models have been analyzed in general. In this context, some country ITS Systems, practices and the practices in Turkey have been examined specifically. After discussing the findings, in the light of discussing 38 actions have been determined.
