Putting infrastructure assets on the map
The increasing use of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) infrastructures can be a challenge for road authorities, who must keep track of equipment and monitor systems. A computerized asset management system can help manage road assets. There are several systems available to assist with the management of maintenance and field assets and to keep logs of any issues. Road assets can be mapped using geographic information systems. Asset management systems can track the deterioration of road surfaces and help plan for maintenance. These systems allow for greater organization and planning for the road network.
