Regional Economic Impact Analysis of High Speed Rail in China: Main Report
This report, on behalf of China Railway Corporation (CRC), develops a methodology to assess the economic impacts of high speed rail (HSR) projects in China. Specifically this report focuses on regional economic impacts including changes in tourism, changes in business productivity, and changes in employment. A literature review, passenger survey, and tourism survey were conducted. In addition, two case studies are considered, Changchun-Jilin Intercity Railway and the northern part of the Beijing-Shanghai High Speed Rail Line. Recommendations for further work are included.
