A study of Active DSRC OBU for Multi payment media
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, LTD developed road tolling system based on Active DSRC that is widely adopted in Asian countries. Moreover, they developed OBU which operates with an internal battery, and has a contactless IC card interface corresponding to three kinds of contactless cards compliant with NFC (Near Field Communication) standard. Many existing public transportation cards which are contactless cards can be seamlessly used for a payment of road tolling system. In addition, it is easy for the user to introduce OBU because wiring work is not needed for the installation on the vehicle. Therefore, they can be expected to simplify the deployment process of the road tolling system. In Asia, contactless IC card compliant with NFC standard has been begun introducing as Ticket for public transport. From this situation, for OBU enhancements of features, they need to consider for adding the new contactless IC card (compliant with NFC). This paper shows consideration how to comply with the new contactless IC card.
