Medicaid Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Saves Lives and Money
One of the most common barriers faced by low-income populations in accessing timely and necessary medical care has been consistently shown by research to be transportation. The Medicaid non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) benefit fills the gaps by providing appropriate but least costly methods of transportation services, such as taxis, vans and public transit, for Medicaid beneficiaries to transport them to and from medical services. The details of this benefit are presented here.
