In the Spirit of Cooperation
The North Pacific Coast Guard Forum is held to address issues of mutual concern between six countries of the North Pacific: Canada, China, Japan, Republic of Korea, Russia, and the United States. These countries collaborate to maintain maritime security and combat threats such as high-seas drift net fishing and illicit trafficking. The forum fosters cooperation through working groups, and multilateral operations have enhanced the relationships between the nations. Functional area experts from the respective nations meet during the course of the year in work groups. Collaboration is necessary to ensure maritime security across the vast expanse of the Pacific.
