Strategic Planning and Tools for Infrastructure Development and Transport Systems Integration in Southeast Europe

This paper presents the experience and the contribution of the authors to the process and the methodology of technical support to the planning and implementation of the South Eastern European Priority Transport Axis in the framework of the project SEETAC, funded by the South East Europe Territorial Cooperation Programme. Emphasis is placed on the method and the results of the forecasting of multimodal transport demand, allowing the prioritisation of actions for investment, using technical tools and taking into consideration geostrategic aspects. Finally, activities for the enhancement of trans-border mobility in South East Europe are discussed, according to the progress of the on-going project ACROSSEE, which is also funded by the South East Europe Territorial Cooperation Programme.
