ITS Development and Industry Status in Taiwan from Supply Chain Point of View
With the review of the most recent development and deployment of intelligent transportation system (ITS) in Taiwan, the authors propose a supply chain frameworks to describe the ITS industry. The ITS supply chain diagram is sketched based on the analysis of the ITS industry in Taiwan. This diagram briefly describes the relationships among different ITS stakeholders. Most infrastructures need huge investment, such as roads, traffic signals, signs, communication backbone, thus, the government or some private enterprises or operators (such as telecom, freeway, rail, post related private corporations) may possess adequate resources to construct these facilities. With the Supply Chain analysis, it is easy to identify the key functions and relationship among the ITS stakeholders. This framework would help the government to realize the strength and weakness of its domestic ITS industry and develop the strategic needs in the future research and collaboration.
