An Improved Algorithm of the Numerical Simulations of Rear-End Collisions

The paper aims to overcome the shortcomings caused in the method of restitution coefficient and the method of combining the effective crash velocity with the momentum conservation in order to compute the vehicle velocity. It also aims to make the reconstruction results of the car rear-end collision conform more closely to the situation. By analyzing the car crash process and the data collected through crash testing, the authors put forward a kind of velocity curve equation and deceleration curve equation in the vehicle crash process. The authors also modified the curve equations by simulated annealing arithmetic. The authors then established the model of monorail degree of freedom and solved the car movement track equations in the way of the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method. In the end, the authors constructed an algorithm using the software PC-Crash to verify its reliability.
