Testing tolling technology
The Transportation Safety Research Center (TSRC), run by 3M, is being expanded in order to develop the company’s tolling products. An improved facility will be opened, featuring advanced multiprotocol readers, automatic license plate readers, and automatic vehicle classification. The new facility will allow the company to develop new products for tolling and public safety. The facility is based in Minnesota, which will allow for testing a range of real-world weather conditions due to the region’s varied climate. Future plans for the TSRC include a toll management system for back office operations and products for parking, access control, and public safety.
