Methodology for Performance and Evaluation of Traffic Surveys

The methodology is divided into two follow-up parts – Performance of traffic surveys and Evaluation of collected traffic and engineering information. The first part of the methodology aims to present accurate instructions for the performance of traffic surveys of junctions including the required outcomes. These data are used as materials for the analysis of traffic and engineering parameters of junctions and subsequently for designing suitable measures improving road safety on monitored junctions. The other part of the methodology is to determine the procedure for the evaluation of all data collected from performed traffic surveys of junctions. The general parts of Methodology for performance and evaluation of traffic surveys is complemented with procedures of collecting and evaluating of data. These procedures were used in the project No. TA01031303 – Research of effectiveness of suitable adjustments of large junctions with the use of traffic and engineering parameters, within which this methodology was produced. In particular, the methodology deals with surveys on unsignalled junctions and their arms. The designed model for collection and evaluation of data can be also applied to other types of junctions and possible even for road segments, but only under the consideration of the following standards: CSN 73 6101 and CSN 73 6110. This methodology is followed by a methodology describing procedures for treatment of junctions, which uses the data form this methodology as the source data.
