CATENARY FOR TODAY'S ELECTRIC RAILROADS--RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN THE DESIGN OF OVERHEAD EQUIPMENT
New cable systems are illustrated which improve collector performance at high speeds and offer reduced material and installation costs. The use of steel-cored aluminum conductors to replace copper cable to reduce costs, the use of cadmium copper for contact wires for improved tensile strength and creep resistance, improved tensioning methods, circuit protection, etc, are described.
