Insights into specialized translation. The case of maritime texts
The paper intends to raise awareness on the important role played by globalization in the production and perception of language, as well as the changes brought to the status of English as an international lingua franca. The emergence of the new branch of Translation Studies, namely LSP translation, draws attention towards an imminent search for standardization of terminology. For this purpose, the corpus-based approach suggested in the paper attempts to highlight the recurrent problems encountered at a lexical and terminological level in different stages of a translation project involving an institutional text.
