Bridge Engineering Handbook: Seismic Design

This second edition, one of a series of five books (Fundamentals, Superstructure Design, Substructure Design, Seismic Design, and Construction and Maintenance), covers seismic design of concrete, steel and cable supported bridges, retrofit technology, dynamic and nonlinear analysis, among other topics. New to this second edition is the following: seven new chapters - Seismic Random Response Analysis, Displacement-Based Seismic Design of Bridges, Seismic Design of Thin-Walled Steel and concrete-filled tubular (CFT) Piers, Seismic Design of Cable-Supported Bridges, and three chapters that cover seismic design practice in China, Italy and California. Seismic retrofit practice and seismic retrofit technology are combined into one chapter called Seismic Retrofit Technology. Others among the 18 chapters that are included here are as follows: Geotechnical Earthquake Considerations; Earthquake Damage to Bridges; Dynamic Analysis; Nonlinear Analysis; Soil-Foundation-Structure Interaction; Seismic Design Practice in Japan; and Seismic Isolation Design for Bridges.
