INTEGRATED SHIPS SYSTEMS
An analysis is made of the economically optimal degree of automation to be employed in an integrated merchant ship system. The discrete functions, such as navigation, machinery, cargo, administration and communications, are examined and the tasks suitable for computer control and those better performed manually are explained.
