PROGRESS WITH B. AND W. DIESEL ENGINES
Merchant ship requirements calling for advances in low-speed and medium-speed diesel engines are reviewed, with emphasis on reliability factors. Operating experience with Burmeister and Wains low-speed KEF and KFF engines is described, with details of problems and remedies on the 980 mm KFF engines. Major design features of two new medium-speed engines under development, the U and S50H, are given.
