DEVELOPMENT OF THE TELEPROCESSING NETWORK

DEVELOPMENT DU RESEAU DE TELEINFORMATIQUE

The authors, respectively Ingenieur Principal at the Information Processing Department and Ingenieur Principal Hors Classe at the Equipment Management, of the SNCF, recall the organization and operation of this network such as described in the March 1971 issue of the RGCF, as well as the rules that have had to be followed for its development. (The work "teleprocessing" has replaced the term "data transmission"). Some installations are already in place while others will be completed by the end of 1973, and the article reviews the situation in this respect. The various links in the chain are to be forged from the new Message Management Centre to the terminals which are in full development. The experience acquire during these important stages will bear its fruit from 1973.
