High Density Data Logging in a Traffic Controller
The focus of this article is the increasing need for better data to improve traffic control. The author discusses the importance of resolution when collecting vehicle volume and occupancy data, which is used to gauge traffic levels, and he suggests that better resolution yields better data. Also described are new capabilities being provided by modern controllers and the recent adoption of Adaptive Control by many transportation agencies..
