SERVICE EXPERIENCE WITH S.N.C.F. CC21000 AND CC6500 LOCOMOTIVES

L'EXPERIENCE EN SERVICE DES LOCOMOTIVES CC2100 ET CC6500

The author explains the different tests carried out and the results obtained in service with the new CC21000 and CC6500 electric locomotives. He reviews successively problems of behaviour on the track, the performance of the rheostatic brakes, dynamic constraints in the bogie chassis and various investigations on the electrical equipment. He then explains the tractive capabilities of these locomotives, with their monomotor bogies and double gear ratio, for hauling heavy freight trains over difficult profiles such as on the Maurienne line, as well as passenger trains at 200 km/h on the Paris-Bordeaux line. In conclusion, he gives the results of adhesion tests at speeds ranging from 100 to 280 km/h.
