Spreading the Word
In this article, the author discusses multi-space, pay-by-license-plate technology, which was first implemented in 2012 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Highlighted are the promotional strategies needed to launch and sustain the program and implications for the adoption of a new metering concept. The new technology offers customer convenience and may lead to a reduction or elimination of the practice of controlling parking duration in given spaces through the posting of applicable time limits.
