Solution of Critical Spots on Rural Roads: Methodology for Performance

Reseni kritickych mist na pozemnich komunikacich v extravilanu: metodika provadeni

The primary aim of the methodology is to describe a procedure to deal with a critical locality. It includes a method to distinguish if it really is a critical locality or there was an accumulation of road accidents due to a chance or factors which cannot be revealed within the observation of such locality. The secondary aim is to create a catalogue of risk factors related to road designing and relevant measures to the minimization of the risk factors. The benefit of the catalogue is not just a summary of collected findings, but also a complementation of data on life span, financial costs, and particularly effectiveness of individual measures. Regarding the changing price levels and variability of a life span of some measures in relation to traffic volume, the evaluation of each of the parameters performed with the use of a three-level scale. This methodology was produced within the project of Identification and Solution of Critical Spots and Segments in the Road Network which stimulate illegal and inappropriate behaviour of road users by their arrangement – IDEKO (research project No. VG20112015013), project within safety research programme of the Czech Republic for 2010-2015 of the Ministry of the Interior.
