Making it fit: track laying in the ECRL
The Epping to Chatswood Rail Line (ECRL) is a 13km underground rail line linking the northern Sydney suburbs of Chatswood and Epping. The route contains new stations at North Ryde (Delhi Road), Macquarie Park and Macquarie University, and also features an underground expansion to Epping Station. Thiess Hochtief Joint Venture (THJV) was awarded the design and construct contract for all underground works (excluding stations fitout) in July 2002. United Group (formally Alstom) was appointed major subcontractor to THJV for the design and installation of rail systems, whilst GHD and Parsons Brinkerhoff were engaged to complete the detailed design of the remaining civil and building works.
