COMPUTER-CONTROLLED CARGO AND NAVIGATION SYSTEMS ON A 150,000-TON D.W. ORE/OIL CARRIER
This article describes a highly automated, computer-controlled ore/oil carrier, with functions such as navigation, cargo and ballast operations, and medical diagnosis for crew personnel all controlled by a computer. The vessel's machinery has not been arranged for computerized operation. The functions that are controlled by the computer, however, are described, with specific features of each program explained.
