HYUNDAI COMMISSIONS TO CHALLENGE JAPAN'S POSITION AS FAR EAST VLCC BUILDER
A shipyard capable of constructing the largest ships in the world is presently under construction and will soon be completed. This shipyard is located on the south east coast of Korea, and when fully constructed, will be able to build up to six VLCC's in the 300,000-dwt class per year. A complete description of the shipyard is given, including overall design of the yard, future plans to expand the yard facilities, and a list of the equipment that will be used when the yard becomes operational. Specific dimensions of the yard are given, as well as the capacities of the equipment that will be used.
