GERMAN-DESIGNED STEAM TURBINES FOR HIGH-POWERED SHIPS

A new Blohm oss-Siemens steam turbine propulsion set is a single-plane, throttle-controlled design, for joint manufacture by the two companies, and covering the range of from about 18,000 to 40,000 shp and above. The designers basic philosophy and design details are covered, including concept and thermodynamic calculations, symmetrical temperature distribution, and the high-pressure and low-pressure turbine features.
