Analysis of Inter-Vehicle Communication Using Network Simulator
This book discusses both mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs), and inter-vehicle communication (IVC), as significant additions to the next generation of intelligent transportation systems. IVCs can be considered to be a subset of MANETs, and it is useful to address them together. IVCs aid vehicles on the road in communicating with each other, to enable real time information exchange on highway conditions, highway safety, traffic control, and other relevant data. Research on protocols and system architecture of MANETs is valuable for setting up IVC experiments. Packet loss and network throughput can be tools for performance evaluation and measurement of MANET for IVC, to assess routing protocols, effects of vehicle speed, and other variables.
