OPERATION OF A TWO-STROKE DIESEL WITH DIRECT INJECTION OF LIQUEFIED GAS

RABOTA DVUKHTAKTNOGO DIZELYA S NEPOSREBSTVENNYM VPRYSKOM ZHIDKOGO GAZA

Tests are reported carried out on a high-speed two-stroke diesel engine equipped with a fuel injection system allowing for a transition from diesel fuel to mixed fuel, and vice versa, using a mixture of diesel fuel with liquefied gases mixture containing 70% butane and 30% propane. Working processes were investigated on indicator diagrams in the fuel mixture range from 30 to 70 vol % of liquefied gases. The engine's operation ws steady under all operating conditions. The fuel economy increased with increasing liquefied gases content in the fuel mixture and a cost decrease of up to 22.3% was achieved, without any mechanical alterations of the engine. A decrease in air pollution by exhaust gases was also observed.
