CHARGING EQUIPMENT FOR THE AUXILIARY BATTERIES OF ELECTRIC ROLLING STOCK

LADEGERAETE FUER HILKSBATTERIEN VON TRIEBFAHRZEUGEN

A new thyristor rectifier in unsymmetrical semi-controlled single-phase bridge connection has been developed for feeding the battery and various auxiliaries on motor coaches for the Munich Rapid Transit System. New components ensure good steady-state and dynamic characteristics. The superiority of this charging equipment over rotating converters and magnetic amplifier arrangements is reflected in its small dimensions and freedom from maintenance.
