HIGH-CAPACITY BRAKING RESISTORS FOR ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVES
HOCHBELASTBARE BREMSWIDERSTANDSGERAETE FUER ELEKTRISCHE LOKOMOTIVEN
The electrical braking capacities required for modern locomotives cannot be handled by the resistors of conventional design. It was therefore necessary to develop new braking resistors with approximately the same dimensions but twice the capacity. This has been achieved by providing gill-like slots in the resistance strips. Guidelines and mathematical relationships are given for the optimum design of resistors of this type.
