REMOTE CONTROL OF SHUNTING LOCOMOTIVES

FERNSTEUERUNG VON RANGIERLOKOMOTIVEN

Remote control of shunting locomotives with the aid of continuous automatic train running control is described. Safety is ensured by protection loops at danger points and automatic braking on the occurrence of irregularities. The control can be incorporated directly into process control systems. VHF radio control from small portable units offers advantages for industrial railway operation where large areas may have to be covered but traffic density is low.
